Kaylee Falso and Lily Datz participated in the Holocaust Art and Writing Contest sponsored by Chapman University. Mr. Tidd also sent an essay written by Caroline Hagen. These students listened to testimony from survivors of the Holocaust and responded through visual art, and the written word. They have been sent out to California for judging! Wish them luck! See a link below for more about the contest.

Today was an exciting day! Claudia Lambdin brought in bins of clean white sneakers for Art Club students to begin painting! Last week everyone learned about Folk Art from Claudia, whose own artwork is inspired by this style. They then got pieces of scrap canvas to start developing their own theme for their sneakers, and got used to using the paint markers. Students will be working on these sneakers all throughout March, and once they are closer to finishing, Claudia will return to show us how to add last minute details in order to bring it all together. I will keep sharing as these designs evolve! If anyone is interested in Art Club, please stop by room 226! Mr. Kringer made his final choices and after many edits, students submitted their designs that have been sent to the printer! |
